Nick Cordero Dies From Coronavirus Complications

Broadway star Nick Cordero has died at age 41 after months spent battling the novel coronavirus. His wife, Amanda Kloots, shared the news on Instagram on July 5, two days after telling supporters that Cordero would likely require a double lung transplant. He is survived by Kloots and their 1-year-old son, Elvis.

“God has another angel in heaven now. My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth,” Kloots wrote.

“I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday.”

She thanked Cordero’s doctor as well as the extended network of supporters who offered encouragement on social media, where Kloots had been posting updates on Cordero’s condition. He was hospitalized on April 1 and spent several weeks in a coma as he battled the virus; doctors put him on a ventilator and eventually amputated his right leg. Cordero woke up in mid-May, and in July, Kloots said that he could open his eyes and answer commands.

Fans and loved ones rallied around Cordero via Instagram, posting videos of themselves dancing to his music, something Kloots said kept her spirits up.

“I cannot begin to thank everyone enough for the outpour of love, support and help we’ve received these last 95 days. You have no idea how much you lifted my spirits at 3pm everyday as the world sang Nicks song, Live Your Life,” Kloots wrote. “We sang it to him today, holding his hands. As I sang the last line to him, ‘they’ll give you hell but don’t you light them kill your light not without a fight. Live your life,’ I smiled because he definitely put up a fight. I will love you forever and always my sweet man.”

This keto grilled chicken is for all the pickle lovers! Bonus, you only need 3 ingredients to make this tangy and herby dairy free grilled chicken! If you haven't tried combining dill pickle and ranch, you're in for a real treat with this easy keto chicken recipe.

I have been all about my grill this summer. Being able to cook dinner while my kids are outside playing is simply the best!

Grilling can be daunting for those who aren’t familiar with the technique (myself included) but it’s really super simple. If you know how to control heat on your stove, you can easily control the heat on a gas grill too.

Plus, grilling makes for the best clean up because there aren’t skillets, pans, or extra dishes to wash. Who doesn’t love less dishes to wash?!

This 3-ingredient keto grilled chicken marries two flavors that go together as well as peanut butter and jelly: dill pickle and ranch. If you haven’t tried combining dill pickle and ranch, you’re in for a real treat with this easy keto grilled chicken recipe.

Best of all, this is a dump and go keto grilled chicken recipe so you can spend more time doing what you love with those you love!

Juicy grilled chicken brined and grilled in a dill pickle and ranch marinade.

You’re Going To Love This Easy Keto Grilled Chicken

And here’s why:

  • Only 3 ingredients needed
  • Easily double or triple the recipe to feed a crowd
  • Complimentary flavor pairings
  • Fool proof recipe
  • Zero carb (depending on which seasoning you use)
  • Dairy free
  • Kid approved
  • Meal prep and freezer friendly

Making Your Own Pickle Ranch Keto Grilled Chicken

This three ingredient pickle ranch chicken is the quintessential dump and cook recipe! Brining your chicken in pickle juice makes your chicken juicy and tender while giving it a slightly tangy flavor.

All you need is:

  • A large mixing bowl, baking dish, or ziplock bag
  • Grill safe tongs or spatula
  • Small mason jar
  • Fork or small whisk

Check out this video and see just how easy it is to make:

Trust me when I say don’t skip the pickle ranch dip! It is so soo good!

Don’t be afraid of grilling either! If you can control the heat on your stovetop, you can control the heat on your grill.

Cook this chicken directly over the flame (direct heat) for about 7 minutes per side and you’ll end up with juicy and tender grilled chicken. If you’re worried about doneness, you can use a meat thermometer to make sure the internal temperature registers 165ºF.

And if you want to learn more about grilling, be sure to check out my friend Lauren’s blog, Bon Appeteach. She is the queen of the (keto) grill!

Ingredients & Substitutions For Your 3 Ingredient Keto Chicken

With only 3 ingredients needed for this dairy free grilled chicken, there aren’t any substitutes that you need to know about. You can use any dill pickle juice that you have on hand, just make sure it’s zero carb and sugar free.

And as for ranch seasonings, use your favorite or make your own! There are several ranch seasonings available at the grocery stores now, some cleaner than others, so just pick one that you like. At the bottom of the recipe card you’ll find some clean dry ranch seasoning options available on Amazon.

WHO Warns That the “Worst Is Yet to Come” in the Pandemic

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus speaks during the daily press briefing on the new coronavirus dubbed COVID-19, at the WHO headquaters on March 2, 2020 in Geneva. - The World Health Organization said that the number of new coronavirus cases registered in the past day in China was far lower than in the rest of the world. It’s been several months since the coronavirus pandemic began, so it’s only natural to wonder how much longer we’ll need to take measures to reduce the spread. Unfortunately, in many parts of the world, cases of COVID-19 are surging instead of improving, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

“We all want this to be over. We all want to get on with our lives. But the hard reality is this is not even close to being over . . . Although many countries have made some progress, globally the pandemic is actually speeding up,” said WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, during a recent press briefing. The virus, first identified in late 2019, was formally designated a pandemic on March 11, and attempts to alleviate it around the world have been met with mixed results.

A detailed tracker from Johns Hopkins University reveals the scope and hotspots of the pandemic. As of this writing, global cases have topped 10.5 million, with more than 512,000 deaths so far. The United States holds the unfortunate distinction of having the most cases (2.6 million and counting) and the most deaths (more than 127,000), accounting for around 25 percent of global cases and deaths from the virus, despite having a relatively small share of the world’s population. Brazil, Russia, India, and the United Kingdom round out the top five in terms of overall cases, while Brazil, the UK, Italy, and France have had the most deaths after the US.

The biggest problem, according to Tedros, is an inconsistent approach and an unwillingness to enforce best practices, such as mask wearing and social distancing, that are intended to slow the spread. “The lack of national unity and lack of global solidarity and the divided world . . . is actually helping the virus to spread. The worst is yet to come,” he said. “I’m sorry to say that, but with this kind of environment and conditions we fear the worst.”

As impatient as everyone may be to get back to “normal” — whether that means going to the gym, eating out at restaurants, or traveling internationally — it’s becoming more and more clear that we’ll all need to make sacrifices for the greater good.

POPSUGAR aims to give you the most accurate and up-to-date information about the coronavirus, but details and recommendations about this pandemic may have changed since publication. For the latest information on COVID-19, please check out resources from the WHO, CDC, and local public health departments.
